Course Description

This qualification was created by the dental Trailblazer group and is accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management. The majority of the course will be delivered in the classroom, on a fortnightly/monthly basis, with regular visits to practice, by your assessor who will carry out, observations and regular progress reviews.

Candidates must either be employed as a dental practice manager or at the very least carry out the duties of a practice manager, before enrolling onto this course and must hold Maths and English qualifications at a Grade C or above or Functional skills Level 2.

You will be fully supported by your Smart Dental Academy tutor and assessor throughout the course. Our tutor Sarah Tucker has a lot of experience in the dental industry, as a dental nurse, practice management and tutor/assessor. Our paths first crossed, when Sarah was a trainee dental manager, she sat the course through Smart Dental Academy, gaining a distinction in both elements of the course, it was as Sarah’s tutor that I first spotted her potential and recruited her to the academy as a tutor and assessor.

You must be supported by a mentor in the practice (your line manager) who will be responsible for undertaking regular reviews with you to support learner progress.

The apprenticeship is 95% government funded, with the remaining 5% payable by your employer. This includes all tuition, practice visits, tutorial sessions, tutor support throughout and the end point assessment and certification with both the ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) and the apprenticeship end point assessment awarding body.
