By the end of the course the participants should be able to understand:
DAY 1
Covers the aetiology, diagnosis and management of failed endodontic treatments, how and when to treat or refer. Lecture on causes of Endo failure. Lectures on Gp removal, post removal
The remainder of day will be occupied by practical exercises using ultrasonic tips. Disassembly of obturation materials: gutta percha, carrier based obturation, screw post, fiber post and metal post on simulated and extracted teeth.
DAY 2
Will begin with a seminar on evidence-based irrigation protocol during Retreatment and the management of canal obstructions: ledges, separated instrument, removal or bypassing.
Hands-on exercises: instrument removal, management of ledges and closure of an open apex
This course is aimed at the general dentist who wants to take their endodontic skills to the next level.
Over the 2 days we will be learning about endodontic failure and why this happens.
We will be looking at how to manage these cases when to refer and when to treat.
Delegates will be given challenges to remove GP from simulated root canals using hand and rotary instruments as well as posts and plastic carriers.
We will be looking at ledge management, how to deal with ledges and removal of separated instruments from the root canal.
The course will round up with looking at perforations and repairing as well as management of the open Apex tooth.
Delegates post this course should be able to recognise failing treatment as well as being able to treat more challenging cases.
